“Never be a prisoner of your past. Become the architect of your future." ― Robin Sharma
Do you agree?
Robin Sharma’s The 5 am Club and The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari are two of my favorite books to study in my dedicated time for morning reading and have inspired today's episode.
I have turned myself into a morning person with an evolving routine as part of practicing what I call The Whole Human Method™
Thanks to Admiral William H. McRaven of the US Navy, I make my bed every morning and it’s the second most gratifying feeling next to opening my eyes and living another day.
Journaling after a period of exercise and meditation has become a morning habit.
I often speak honestly to the pages and take personal inventory and today’s quote reminds me of why this is so impactful.
This inventory comes in different forms depending on the day but regular inventory allows us to not only right size our ego but learns from the information provided from our past.
We don’t regret or shut the door on the past. Focusing our attention on emotions like Regret is our brain’s way of tricking us into believing that we are doing something to solve the problem
If we are reliving past events in the present day but imagining that we are doing something different with the hope that this will somehow prevent us from repeating it then we are DELUSIONAL and living with RESENTMENT.
Hope is not a strategy and Resentment is a #Mindset Killer.
It’s responsible for the death of more dreams, joy, relationships, careers, and happiness than any other emotion.
What we need is a plan to embrace our past as a teacher or “Architect” for our feature.
Taking a regular inventory of our emotions such as fear, regret and resentment is the path to Wholeness
