"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does" - William James
"Act As If" is something we hear often but it misses the most powerful part of what William James said in 1884. The " DO" is the most important part of the phrase !
This does NOT mean faking it until you make it. If we are Faking it, we only create a false sense of identity because we don't even believe what we are saying or doing nor are we aligned with a true purpose in taking those actions.
- Identifying our limiting or dysfunctional beliefs. What story prevents us from taking the actions we desire or being the person we want to be ?
- Identifying the opposite traits of those beliefs and identifying actions that produce them. Who would we be and what would we be doing if we didn't have these limiting beliefs?
- REPETION - Acting As If means doing the work ! Take those new "opposite " actions and build the muscle memory and confidence to become who we want to me.
We've got to be willing to let go of our old self to become the person we desire to be.
