Tom reflects on #gratitude as he recalls the Impactful lessons he's learned throughout his career.

He shares a memory as a young Guardsman in the U.S. Coast Guard bringing a ship into port and making every mistake imaginable -causing damage to pier, all while his commanding officer patiently allowed him to work through fear, anxiety and mental spiral.

This ends up being the most powerful lesson of his life and that experience has been a catalyst for his continuous #personaldevelopment and his #mentorship of others.

He opens up on his experience with asking for help and the power of working on our #mentalhealth. In the same way we would our physical health he stresses the importance of Mental health for both active duty and #veterans . He is passionate ending the stigmas around mental health within the #miliary and helping all who may be suffering in silence.

Tom has navigated multiple responsibilities from the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and eventually to the Secretary and CFO of the US Navy.
